biography
Nyx is a Dark Fusion Bellydance Duo comprised of Thalisha Kamice' and Brandi Slater. Together they perform a mixture of Bellydance, Fire Arts and Object Manipulation.

ThalishaThalisha Kamice' started her dancing career in 1999 studying with Alexandra King, the Artistic Director of the UCSB Mid East Dance Ensemble and winner of many prestigious awards within the industry. It was under Alexandra's watchful eye that Thalisha gained the foundation of what would become her life's passion. While attending Brooks Institute of Photography in Santa Barbara, Thalisha decided that one belly dance class a week was just not enough. She soon started studying with two additional instructors. The first was a woman named Beth, who taught a fusion of Belly Dance, East Indian Dance and Flamenco. The second was Yukta Girard, another award winning instructor who taught Yoga as well as Belly Dance. Yukta encouraged her students to travel and take workshops. This early encouragement led Thalisha to workshops, through out the years, with prominent instructors such as Kajira Djoumahna, founder of Black Sheep Belly Dance, John Compton of Hahbi'Ru, Paulina, Reda Darwish, Saiedeh and Yasmine of Sirens In Sanity, Tempest, Princess Farhana, Zoe Jakes, Mira Betz and many others. After graduating with a Bachelors degree in February of 2003, Thalisha Kamice' moved to San Fransisco where she took Belly Dance lessons with Fat Chance Belly Dance, the creators of ATS (American Tribal Style) and Ultra Gypsy. She also studied Traditional Greek Dances such as Hassapiko with the owner of the Minerva Greek Cafe, where she performed both Belly Dance and Traditional Greek Dances, every Friday and Saturday night, accompanied by live musicians. Upon moving with her husband to the Sierra foothills, Thalisha Kamice' began performing regularly with the Sierra Spiral Dancers. She helped to co-develop the website and other marketing strategies and also became the troupes official photographer. Thalisha helped choreograph many of the troupe dances and made countless costumes for their performers. Wanting to travel in a darker direction and craving more creative freedom, Thalisha broke away from the Sierra Spiral Dancers to co-found the Dark Fusion Duo, Nyx with partner Brandi Slater.

BrandiBrandi Slater started her performance career in 2004 as a juggling street performer. Later that year she began the study of Fire Arts, specializing in Poi and co-founded the extremely successful juggling and fire performance troupe, Mountain Mischief.
